Antonio Stradivari had his violinmaker
studio in Cremona during his whole life. His teacher lived and worked there,
too.

Antonio Stradivari and the first
of the Guarneri family were pupils of Nicolo Amati, a master, whose works
where well known far outside Italy. Nicolo's grandfather Andrea Amati,
who could be understood as one of the inventors of the new instrument "violin"
had worked for kings and lords outside of his country.
